5th Native Portaits

These were a new project for us this year and they turned out stunning! I love the contrast of the soft pastel and the dark black hair!

4th Tribal Shields

Another favorite of mine. Tribal symbols were used to create a balanced design. They were finished with feathers and twine.

3rd grade Totem Poles

3rd Grade created these totems by layering paper into a symmetrical character design.

2nd Grade Native Cave Pictographs

I love loved this project! We started with some sturdy paper and and distressed it. We then used white oil pastels to create a pictograph.

1st Grade Sunsets

These watercolor sunsets were made by our first grade artist. They are based on the The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush by Tomie dePaola. It is a wonderful tale, check it out below!

Kinder TeePee's

Kinder artists used line, color and pattern to create these Tee Pees.

Native American Artifacts

November is Native American Month, I am a bit behind, in posting these project...but this unit is one of my favorites to teach! Each grade level completes a unique project based on Native American culture. There are so many beautiful artifacts in this culture that is makes for one great unit!

Check out all the projects :)
