3D Geometric Forms
In this 4th grade projects we learned what makes something 3 Dimensional. Our 4th graders should be able to tell you from this lesson some key aspects of both art and math, such as...
A shape is 2D, like a circle or square.
A form is 3D like a sphere, cube or rectangular prism.
A 3D form has length, width and most importantly depth.
After learning the technicalities of each form students created balanced compositions and added charcoal shading for give the appearance of depth!

SNOW PLOW!
The City of Morgantown has created an awesome opportunity for our students! Our 5th Grade cluster class had the chance to design and paint an actual snow plow blade. The students worked very hard to design the plow with the Charger logo. The cluster that worked on the plow will have the chance to walk along side of it during the city Christmas parade. The functional plow will them roam the city streets on snowy days!

Mono Leaf Prints
Our Kinder artists created these beautiful print. Students placed large stems from a tree on our playground onto a large piece of paper. Then students chose 2 colors of red, orange, yellow, and brown. The fist color was sprayed on and around the center of the leaf and the second color was sprayed around the outside edges of the leaf. The two colors overlapped to create a splatter effect. In printmaking a mono print is the relief of what is placed onto the paper, this process left us with a white outline of our nature print.
Tissue Paper Trees
These fall trees were created by our 1st grade artists. They applied modgepodge to torn tissue paper to represent the leaves and used black crayon to draw the trunk and limbs of the tree. In this lesson students discussed color theory in the natural world and why colors can change.

ELMO
Elmo is not just a cute fuzzy red character on Sesame Street! An ELMO is a brand of document camera and has quickly become one of my favorite feature to accompany our SMART board in the art room!! The document camera projects what ever is below it onto the interactive white board. It is great for the teacher to show a drawing or painting demo so that each students can see it close up. On this occasion 4th graders were studying 3-D forms and composition's. We used Elmo to display a student created composition so that all could sketch the same thing. We also used the interactive whiteboard to outline and emphasize the placement of the forms. In the second day of this lesson we used the Elmo for a charcoal shading demo. The finished projects will be posted soon!
Up, Up, and Away!
These beautiful hot air balloons were created by our 2nd grade artists! Students used black paint to create a design on thier balloons. They also used oil pastels to create bright and vibrant colors. Students finished this project by printing and cutting a picture of themselved into the hot air balloon!
Whimsical Landscapes
These colorful landscapes were created by our 3rd Grade artists! In this project we learned about perspective space pertaining to foreground, middle ground, and background placements in a landscape. We also discussed color theory pertaining to warm and cool colors!
Printed Fall Trees
These fall trees were created by our Kinder artists. For this project we did not use any paintbrushed! Instead we used the edge of cardboard pieces to print lines for our tree trunk and branches. Next we used a Q-Tip to create dot prints of red, yellow, orange, and brown to represent fall leaves.
Name Line Designs
These are a fun creation by our 1st grade artists. They started with very tall letters that stretched from the top to the bottom of their paper. Next came crayon line designs in all of the spaces created by their name. Lastly students painted a watercolor resist over each section!
