These were a new project for us this year and they turned out stunning! I love the contrast of the soft pastel and the dark black hair!

4th Tribal Shields
Another favorite of mine. Tribal symbols were used to create a balanced design. They were finished with feathers and twine.
2nd Grade Native Cave Pictographs
I love loved this project! We started with some sturdy paper and and distressed it. We then used white oil pastels to create a pictograph.
1st Grade Sunsets
These watercolor sunsets were made by our first grade artist. They are based on the The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush by Tomie dePaola. It is a wonderful tale, check it out below!

Look Out Below
Another smashing year for the pumpkin drop! During related arts students worked as a team to engineer a contraption that might save or protect their pumpkin from a 95 foot fall from our local fire truck. It was a great exercise in team work. While no pumpkin fully survived the fall we declared winners per grade level based on the least amount of damage.
Shadow Night Scapes
5th grade created these landscapes. They created a mood painting with shadow and highlights in perspective.
Pastel Leaves
4th grade created large leaves by blending oil pastels. They added a splash of gold paint to accent the contour lines of the leaves.
3D Leaf Prints
3rd grade created these beautiful leaf prints by pressing leaves into modeling clay. Then painting them with watercolor when dry.
Watercolor Scarecrow
Watercolor Leaves
1st Grade painted these watercolor leaves by blending cool colors for the background and warm colors for the leaves!
Primary Pumpkins
Kinders created these cute pumpkins using only the three primary colors: red, yellow and blue. They created shades of orange by mixing the red and yellow. Green leaves were added with yellow and blue. A brown stem was topped off by mixing all three primary colors together.

3D Geometric Forms
In this 4th grade projects we learned what makes something 3 Dimensional. Our 4th graders should be able to tell you from this lesson some key aspects of both art and math, such as...
A shape is 2D, like a circle or square.
A form is 3D like a sphere, cube or rectangular prism.
A 3D form has length, width and most importantly depth.
After learning the technicalities of each form students created balanced compositions and added charcoal shading for give the appearance of depth!

SNOW PLOW!
The City of Morgantown has created an awesome opportunity for our students! Our 5th Grade cluster class had the chance to design and paint an actual snow plow blade. The students worked very hard to design the plow with the Charger logo. The cluster that worked on the plow will have the chance to walk along side of it during the city Christmas parade. The functional plow will them roam the city streets on snowy days!

Mono Leaf Prints
Our Kinder artists created these beautiful print. Students placed large stems from a tree on our playground onto a large piece of paper. Then students chose 2 colors of red, orange, yellow, and brown. The fist color was sprayed on and around the center of the leaf and the second color was sprayed around the outside edges of the leaf. The two colors overlapped to create a splatter effect. In printmaking a mono print is the relief of what is placed onto the paper, this process left us with a white outline of our nature print.
